Effective Treatments of Thrush

Getting rid of thrush isn’t as easy as taking the preventative measures to avoid it.  Taking preventative measures does not guarantee a person one hundred percent that the/she will not contract thrush; however, they will decrease their chances of contracting the problem significantly.  Thrush can affect anyone at any age; therefore, it is important to use thrush treatments as soon as possible in order to prevent more severe cases of thrush.

Thrush is the result of an infection in the mouth caused by the candida fungus which is also known as yeast.  We all have small amounts of the candida fungus within our bodies and this is normal; however, stress, certain medications, and certain illnesses can disrupt the balance of candida fungus.  When the balance of the candid fungus is disrupted, the candida fungus grows out of control, causing thrush.

Thrush can affect people of all ages, male or female; however, thrush is more common in babies and toddlers.  Once thrush is diagnosed, thrush can be successfully treated, but if the thrush symptoms are more severe then it may be more difficult and take more time to cure.  Healthy children and adults who are diagnosed with thrush can generally abate the problem successfully through the use of antifungal medications.  These types of medications are taken for approximately ten to fourteen days and are specifically designed to treat thrush.

Thrush can also be prevented as well as treated by practicing good oral hygiene.  The teeth should be brushed at least twice a day and flossed at least once a day.  This not only keeps the teeth clean, but also removes the bacteria and plaque that is within the mouth.  Routine dental check-ups are also vital for treating thrush and other oral conditions.  Maintaining check-ups and dental cleanings are an important ritual to stick to as this allows the dentist to examine the mouth and teeth on a routine basis and check for any abnormalities.  The food we eat can also aid in the treatment of thrush.  Since thrush is brought on by the candida fungus which is yeast, it is important to avoid excessive amounts of yeast that are within the foods and drinks we consume.  Sugar also encourages the growth of the candida fungus; therefore, it is important to limit our sugar intake.  Foods and drinks such as bread, beer, and wine have a high content of yeast within them.  Candies and sugary drinks should also be limited due to their high content of sugar within them.  Following these simple guidelines and with the use of natural thrush remedies should prevent most people from getting thrush.
